Teams will be presented with a problem which requires quantitative data capture from the Internet and the presentation of data in a graphical format.

Added 01/06/12 Information from the Event Captain:
Students will be given:
1. A hard copy of the test,
2. A cover sheet with directions and
3. A team/school labeled USB Flash Drive -  with a Word Document and Excel Spreadsheet.
Students need to:
1. Before the event begins, students will plug in their USB flash drive that has their school and team name on it.
2.Open their Word Document and Excel Spreadsheet to make sure that they work.
3. Enter their own names and their school (and team names.)
4. Save their answers on both the Word Document and Excel Spreadsheet files.  Color is NOT important in the answers.
5. Print a copy of their Word Document answer sheet and Excel Spreadsheet.
6. Return their USB Flash Drive, their printed Word Document answer sheet and printed Excel Spreadsheet to the Event Captain.

Students will use URLs for data collection.  They will also provide URLs for the short answer questions.  All of those URLs must be contained within cdc.gov
All of the URLs that the students will need can be found by navigating from http://www.cdc.gov. 
For example, http://www.cdc.gov/foo.html and http://apps.cdc.gov/bar.html would be allowed if they were URLs that contained answers. 
        They both contain cdc.gov
http://www.nasa.gov/bad.html is not allowed because it is not within cdc.gov

Students should study and become familiar with the www.cdc.gov website. Relying on search engines to go directly to the answers may not work.
Please tell the students that they are not expected to finish this event.  There will be some very challenging questions along with some easier ones.

Added 10/07/2011 The PC computers we will use in this event will run: Windows XP, IE8 and Microsoft Office 2007
