AWESOME AQUIFER - Division B

Students will construct an acquifer and answer questions about groundwater concepts - includes a presentation.

Question: Are clear glass or plastic beads acceptable for simulating porous media in the aquifer model, or is "natural material" such as sand and/or gravel required?

Answer: Yes, clear glass or plastic beads are acceptable for simulating porous material.

Added 01/13/12 Information from the Coaches & Event Captain Meetiing Jan. 11, 2012
NO Spectators for demonstration or building.
Written test:  Multiple-Choice, Math and figures. 
Need to apply concepts, not just memorization.
They will have 10 minutes to build their aquifers. 
They will not put water in them until they take them to the next room where they will have 5 minutes presentation time.
Demonstration:  will provide list of topics, water, 5 gallon buckets to dump their liquid.
Students must speak up and let the Event Captain know what topics they are demonstrating.

Added 01/12/12 EACH device MUST have the school name and the team name written permanently on the device. 

Added 01/03/12 Clarification from Nationals:
Question: The event description states,"...students cannot bring notes, texts, or references". 
Will labeling demonstration objects be allowed? For example, labeling a 
spray bottle "cloud".

Answer: Labeling is allowed however it needs to be done during aquifer building, within the 10 minutes time limit.
