Science Olympiad Competition -Dispute Resolution
We strive to resolve issues before the competition as follows
- Your questions are addressed to me, then:
a. I answer them,
b. I refer them to the Event Captains, or
c. I refer them to Nationals.
The responses go back to you and all of the other coaches. - Our Workshop at Rancho Bernardo High School on November 15, 2008 provides an opportunity to ask questions of a few Event Captains in a group setting;
- Our meeting on January 10, 2008 provides another chance to ask more questions of more Event Captains;
- At the Competition on February 7, 2009:
i. Ask the Event Captain your question in an orderly and well-mannered way;
ii. If it is not resolved with the Event Captain, bring your question to the Dispute Resolution room and discuss the question, again in an orderly and well-mannered way;
iii. Accept whatever is decided. The decision may or may not be correct. We try to do the very best job that we can. If you are unwilling to accept the decision of the Event Captain and Dispute Resolution, one of the following will happen depending upon the degree of your hysteria and disturbance:
- student DQ in event;
- all teams from school DQ in event;
- school penalized one place in trophies;
- entire team DQ in all events in Competition;
- school (all teams) DQ from Competition.
All of the above applies to students, parents, friends, and coaches
